This is a serious issue, not receiving adequate attention IMHO. Parts of the Western Front in France are still RED ZONES over one hundred years after the end of the First World War.

The battlefields and destroyed towns and cities of Ukraine will cost many billions of dollars and a very long cleanup operation to make safe for human occupation. This is yet another crime that the bunker butcher has committed.

I have taken an interest in things that make soil healthy & what can help a contaminated area recover. The GOOD news is that since WW2 a lot of scientific advances have been made, and strategies developed to accelorate restoration. The BAD news is always time & resources, and in the case of a war zone (as opposed to an industrial chemical spill in a contained area) the complexity of issues as outlined is more challenging - if anyone can Ukraine can 💙💛
