I am only one American,

but from over here POTUS is saying things that Russia wants.

Can understand why you would take him seriously, but America is not the country it once was. Also if I can speak for a great many Americans, we think Zelenski is doing a fine job, and would hope he continues, as he is a great leader.

Can understand how difficult it would be to have elections. Seems like it is a good policy to not have elections during a war. Also seems like it would be taking every ounce of concentration and energy to focus on the war.

I am a grandma who is watching what you are going through. Such bravery and love of country.πŸ’•πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’•

You are holding the Russians back for all of us. Hoping every day that America and Europe will see the value in what you are doing and help you.

We do not take our freedom for granted, and are desperately trying to hold on to it. If it was up to us, we would be with you and Europe as allies, and in spirit we are.

Bless you.

Be certain that Russia will create mayhem and interference. Trump and Putin are pushing it, hoping they can sabotage it in favour of a more pro Russian candidate

I was going to comment on the story until I came to the end and saw the dog. Now all I can think about is why the poor guy was chained to a hard concrete pad. 😭

Liked, restacked & shared to Bluesky (as always). A free election will not be attainable unless Putin withdraws his troops from ALL of Ukraine. Then and only then should Ukraine vote. An election cannot be held whilst Ukrainian citizens are scattered around, or unlawfully held by Putin. End of.

Counting on trump to keep Ukraine secure is like asking Hitler to bring the Hanukah foods.

It has been suggested by some that Zelenskyy is mocking Trump by placing security for elections in the US’s court, that it is his comedic wit at work. If so, I’m not laughing. The idea of even starting the process of changing the law, let alone serious preparation for the vote is utterly ridiculous. Trump has no intention of doing anything to secure, only aid Putin in disrupting free and fair elections. Ukraine has seen from past example the violence that Russia can create. It will only be worse this time around. Voting is meaningless when so many will be forcibly disenfranchised due to the circumstances of war. Yes, there are those on the frontlines who definitely should be able to campaign and run for office. I personally know of two I’ve encouraged to do so. Elections now will only pave the way for mis and disinformation and delay Ukraine’s progress. Placing something so serious as the future of Ukraine in the hands of a 79 year old demented, sadistic, narcissistic, pedophilic criminal who wants nothing more than to steal what he can from the land and citizenry for his personal enrichment, is illogical at best. It sends a disgusting message to the men and women heroically defending the homeland, that their sacrifice is nothing more than a token, something to be laid to waste on the international political altar. Frankly, it’s sickening. I love Ukraine and its people but this is madness and Zelenskyy is wrong if he truly intends to go forward with this nonsense. He’s needs to stand for the right to sovereignty now more than ever by standing firm on established Ukrainian law. That law must not yield to the will of a degenerate and circumvent or imperil the will and best interest of the people.

donald trump strives mightily to subvert elections in his own country. There is no way he will allow a free and fair election in Ukraine. Remember Paul Manafort? He is still floating around somewhere in the world and owes trump for his pardon. There are many additional reasons why elections or a referendum in Ukraine is a dangerous idea.

I had no idea how to vote in the poll, I assumed all electronic elections somehow. The trump administration could no more ensure actual election safety than build a city on Mars. They have absolutely no place insisting on democracy or elections in Ukraine. None, they don’t support democracy anywhere and are completely in league with Putin.

Do not listen to America- trust only yourselves and hold elections only when Russia has respected a full month’s ceasefire.

Please insist that any β€œpeace deal” be contingent upon the stipulation that if Russia breaks a truce, even with one stray bullet, Ukraine will achieve automatic NATO membership.

Oh boy. The whole thing sounds tricky to pull off, especially right now. I would fear Russian interference, in every way possible.

Do not trust any American "help" right now in this area of "security guarantees" to hold a safe and fair election. The current regime doesn't even believe in democracy for the United States! We are not trustworthy at the moment, but are hopeful that we will get back to our old selves at some point (but not soon enough).

I voted no in the poll although I do agree technically it’s possible. I just wouldn’t trust any currently existing software programs. Too many of the tech oligarchs have their own agenda. I think it’s good that they’re taking their time to review the law and come up with drafts and plans, etc. Saying you will agree to an election under certain stringent conditions is not the same as calling for an election or even saying when elections can be held.
