Ukraine has greatly expanded its DNA testing sites to identify the remains of soldiers who have died on the frontlines, and give their families the peace they deserve. We take you inside the labs.
So not all heroes wield a rifle! To carefully handle & sort human remains, desecrated by the vile Orcs, and to apply modern technology to identify to whom the remains belong, is such painstaking and sensitive work; it takes a particular strength to do this, which will bring heartbreak and comfort in equal measure. Thank you, Anastasia.
Yes, this is an incredibly important and at the same time very difficult job that requires not only professionalism but also great inner resilience. Do you think society truly values those who do this work every day?
Most people are completely unaware of these dedicated professionals, unless they have to have dealings with them. Mind you, even, in most societies, the police or civic authorities actually deal with the family members.
I had hoped that this 'summit' would be the time for our golden leader to turn on Putin as he has on most of the people who have helped or supported him. Realistically there is very little Putin can do to help him anymore and whatever kompromat exists is quite devalued by now. The optics revealed make it sound like it will just be another performance appraisal by Putin of his viceroy.
It seems this “summit” is turning more into a loyalty test than a real political play. But in my opinion, Putin clearly has something on Trump that keeps him from acting more decisively – what do you think?
I thought that for a long time, but now I can't imagine anything that would hurt. Election interference - disarmed, sexual misconduct - after 34 convictions and a finding of rape, $$$ gifts and financing - already well documented. What's left that maga and the extreme court would believe?
Each issue astounds me with the courage and the inventiveness of Ukrainians in so many areas, though I would wish that forensic pathology would not have been one of them. Still it will help many people. But also, the barbarity of the Russians just grows and grows. How does one negotiate with a vicious predator?
Yes, Ukraine has a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is located in Kyiv at the Alley of Heroes in the Park of Eternal Glory. Unknown soldiers who died during World War II are buried there, and the site symbolizes remembrance for all who gave their lives for the country
I didn't answer the poll because I don't agree with the premise. Certainly unidentified soldiers should be buried with honor as "unknown," but only when they can't be identified, not because it's too complicated or takes too long to identify them. Tamera and Inna are doing important work and they should get the time and resources they need.
🫂 I knew Police officers trained in "victim identification" after an airliner crashed into a mountain in remote Antarctica - the Mt Erebus disaster. First they had to scour the crash site & surrounds for body parts - at least the sub-zero temps worked to keep down the smell & preserve some things. And then the work of identifying which remains belonged where and to whom. Science has moved on a lot in this field since, but the challenges faced in Ukraine are compounded by the war crimes perpetrated in the intial deaths, and then the complete lack of humanity or respect for the remains of people's loved ones. My admiration & respect for those working to identify human beings in such circumstances is beyond explaining - they too are sheroes/heroes in doing this horrific work 💙💛 This time it is deliberate damage, and not the result of an accident 🤬

He worships Putin too much to forsake him, beg for his favors

I agree, it’s both inspiring and sad that Ukrainians have to be inventive in everything life never prepared them for
Does Ukraine have something like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - like the US has?
