Just back from Odesa, it seems busier than ever, despite the unwelcome increase in missile and high speed drone attacks. I hope everyone stays in business and wish them peaceful skies!

have you tried forshmak? :) I could eat it every single day and probably never get tired of it..!

Yes indeed, there’s a recipe for it in my book ! It’s a recipe by my friend Nika Lozovska who owns Dizyngoff in Odesa, and I could also eat it often!

Going to a beach being bombed? Brave!

Hi Jeffrey, Ana here, a native Odesan. I'm not there right now, but when I am, I usually steer clear of beaches. It's a big open area and, honestly, I don't have the guts for it. But yes, a lot of people still go.. And I can't imagine they leave their phones behind when they go for a swim. That phone is how we get a heads up when something's coming. Guess you'd need a waterproof case for that!

Anna Zapsha’s family is providing a great service by providing accommodation to Ukrainians in Odesa. A very dangerous but valuable service. We all pray they can stay safe and continue this lifeline to battered Ukrainians. Excellent post.

I do like to think about visiting Ukraine once the war, or at least the major threat is open. This newsletter and the stories have made me feel close to the country and I hope I can help with the recovery in some way when that day arrives.
