On the Patriots, when will people realize that for whatever reason, Trump will NEVER cross Putin. There was NEVER be a transfer of Patriot technology to Ukraine. There was never going to be. Ballistic missile attacks on civilians is all Putin has left. Trump will do everything to allow them to continue, and not aid in stopping them. How many times do we need to see this to understand? And the head fakes always appear as if choreographed by Putin himself. The next stop will be Trump's derailing of the Graham Russian sanctions ban. Watch.
In terms of technology, the Ukrainians have often been "on their own". And, that has forced them to (successfully) innovate as a matter of pure survival. I have to believe that Ukraine has been "reverse engineering" available anti-ballistic missile systems these past years - maybe we'll see them deploy their own, homegrown defensive systems? The US has become wholly unreliable.....
Zelensky was not the target of this Putin-trump information operation. It is aimed at the Ukrainian people to (1) disrupt the narrative of Ukraine's turning the tide of the war in its favor; (2) demoralize the public ahead of the annual winter aerial attacks on civilian infrastructure; and (3) undermine confidence in Zelensky during a period of instability.
Trump's meeting with Zelensky was just another set-up, this time without the cameras to record trump's lies--an invitation Putin and trump knew Zelensky couldn't refuse. I can't imagine that Zelensky went in not suspecting it was a trap.
Unfortunately, some Ukrainians continue to play their part in the trump-Putin operation. The voice of civil society must be heard in any democracy worth defending. But unity of purpose is an equally important value in wartime.
I hope Fedorov and his supporters can perceive that they are giving trump and Putin big cards to play against Ukraine at a moment when the Graham sanctions against Russia hang in balance, just days before the U.S. Senate adjourns for more than a month. The continual demonstrations in Kyiv are not helping the Ukrainian cause in this moment.
