I recently discovered that Ukrainians make farm animal sounds differently than we do in English. So we put together this video for you to wish you Merry Christmas from us in Kyiv.
This made me smile. It is amazing how you beautiful people under great stress manage to maintain a sense of humor. It’s inspirational. Thanks for sharing!
A long time ago I worked with a multicultural group of graphic artists and we got into a discussion about animal sounds in our respective languages. The Romanian guy got quite passionate about “his” frog sound and American frog sound, but the best was one of the engineers from India who, after getting over the fact that animals sound the same the world over (in this case it was cows), said “oh!” and very seriously and loudly went “HUMMMMMBAAAAUUUUGH”.
Now I have to look up Ukrainian animal sounds somehow. Oh, oops, there’s the video. Thanks and merry Christmas!
This is the time of year to give thanks for our many blessings. I think Ukrainians have to dig a little deeper to find their blessings but they are there. Merry Christmas to the Counteroffensive team. Enjoy some rest if you can and some good cheer. And work on your barnyard animal sounds. Thanks for all the work you do.

The humor helps :)
Now I am curious about the office banter that led to this discovery... Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too, Angela! We're usually discussing really serious things, but sometimes... This happens 😁
In Russia, farm animals don’t dare say anything.

For goodness sake, you left out the duck! Does it quack?
Yes, more animal sound translations along with interesting non-animal Ukranian idoms/expressions?
Merry Christmas everyone. Slava Ukraini!
Made me smile! What does the dog say?
Thanks, Kate!! The dog in Ukrainian will sound like "gav" :)
"h-ah-w" may be more accurate, actually 😁
Fun and lovely. My pleasure to support you and your team! Merry Christmas and I look forward to a better New Year for Ukraine.
What does the fox say? (sorry, not sorry) 😁

You put a big smile on my face.
Hopefully you have the most relaxing week off...despite the Ruzzian terror that Ukraine faces.
We appreciate you!
