How ironic (or maybe, not) that the people of Canada, Mexico and now Ukraine, seem to care more for those suffering in LA than the incoming administration. I know a couple, for years, who now live in LA . They tell me they are fine - they are in a condo in Century City surrounded by concrete and tall buildings, but I am still worried. I pray that they are right.

Another report where I feel enriched from news that I can't find elsewhere. Thank you.

It is appalling that US media have not mentioned the assistance in the fires from Ukraine, Canada and Mexico.

I've seen both Canada and Mexico mentioned. I have not seen Ukraine or Israel mentioned.

I only saw Canada mentioned on "MSM" because of the civilian drone that crippled their water dousing plane. I did read a news report on Mexico aid, but nothing else. If not for my substack subscriptions I'd be quite ignorant on many global news items.

Thank you for reporting. The ecological and environmental damages inflicted by Putin are enormous. And yet, I am hard pressed to find environmentalists protesting against him and his regimes.

Thank you, Tai! About environmentalists - is that so? Why do you find it hard to find such people?

My experiences are anecdotal. The progressives I know have focused on the Israel-Gaza conflicts (and are extremely pro-Palestinians). I even saw a repost of some podcaster falsely claiming the US military is the biggest contributor to climate change by bombing Gaza. If these folks are truly pro environmental protection, they should be outraged by Putin’s war in Ukraine. Another example is Greta Thunberg. While she expressed support for Ukraine shortly after the invasion, I have seen nothing on her social media feed for 2 years. She has now completely pivoted to Gaza and in fact told American progressives to vote their “conscience”, which is basically telling them to not vote for Kamala Harris. My observation is the left is extremely selective in how they voice their opinions and anger, and frankly not principled at all.

Thank you, Ukraine, for sending your bravest to our aid in Los Angeles. We will not forget. It is a great sacrifice for Ukrainians, who need every one of their first responders while Russia attacks with bombs and missiles nearly every day. But this profoundly generous act will be beneficial in other ways. Slava Ukraini!

I lived in LA for years and still visit on occasion. Looking at photos of the fire devastation and seeing the heartbreak of its burned-out residents, I've been strongly reminded of the photos of Ukrainians displaced by Russian missile attacks.
